Resolutions

its a new year and everyone has resolutions, i do too of course, 2 of my biggest ones this year are to save money and get fit. i only chose 2 because i want to be able to keep them.

anyways before 2010 ended i purchased an elliptical after going on vacation and getting the right tools, Alan and i got it assembled (i bought it online, so we had to put it together)

yesterday i did my first workout, now mind you i have not worked out for the better part of 5 years, i thought "i can do an hour no problem" 3 minutes in i was winded and ready to stop, but i pushed through and did a simple 30 minute work out and burned about 260 calories. i'm not a calorie counter, in fact i say eat what you want just in small to moderate portions then make sure you get some exercise in. i have not been following my own advise, at least not the exercise part.

today i did 1 of 6 workouts that come in the elliptical, and it was rough, again i did 30 minutes but this time there was some resistance as if i was going up a hill and the machine kept me a pretty vigorous speed.

so why talk about all this, well like i said earlier i have not worked out for the better part of the last 5 years and thus have put on a few pounds, i've never wanted to be a skinny mini, but i do want to be healthy and of course i'm also getting married so i want to look hot! but that's beside the point.

i noticed by looking at old pics that, well, as a teen i was pretty thin, i was an active teen and didn't really need to work out but still stayed thin i stayed at a 115 lbs throughout HS. in college i gained your standard 10 lbs and throughout college i stayed at a 125, but after i graduated college i got a full time job, where yes i mostly am sedentary, sitting at a desk for 8+ hrs, i do work in production so sometimes there are hectic days, but for the most part i sit at a computer, and i always use the excuse of "i'm to tired to work out" or "eh i don't need to be a skinny model type" but i DO want to be healthy.

i have gained probably about 25 to 30 lbs in the last 5 years, i also gained a medical issue, this is the heaviest i've been all my life. i mean i get winded walking 5 blocks in the city, so yesterday was the day i will try to get :30 minutes of a workout on the elliptical, and then work my way up to to an hour slowly.

i don't want to be a skinny mini me, i just want to be healthy, so i am working on one of new year resolutions, hopefully i could also work on my other one :)
